What is Trauma?
Trauma is a normal reaction to abnormal circumstances.
Trauma is not necessarily a “one big bad event.” Rather, it can be a continuous, everyday assault on the spirit.
Whether it’s a “one big bad event” or a continued assault on the spirit, you don’t have to continue to live with the trauma – we can work together in a safe environment and create the space for healing.
Trauma affects not only your emotional health, but also your body. From a racing heart, to sweating, crying, stomach pain, headaches, and even making poor choices because you feel that your “brain is off line.” Indeed, your logical brain is “off line” when responding to trauma.
We will start by working on regulating the body, and by understanding why the body “takes over” when it responds to trauma. When you will be ready, we will start to work on reducing intrusive thoughts and debilitating feelings.
