Deep Brain Reorienting, or DBR, is a gentle form of trauma therapy that helps people process difficult experiences by paying attention to the body’s earliest responses to stress, threat, or emotional shock. Before we can fully think about what is happening, the deeper parts of the brain and body may already react through subtle changes such as tension in the face, eyes, neck, or shoulders. In DBR, the therapist helps the client notice these responses in a careful, grounded way, so that the nervous system can begin to process memories that may have remained stuck or overwhelming. The goal is to support healing by working slowly and safely with the body’s natural protective responses, helping the person feel more present, settled, and connected.
